Stroud National Bank considers the security of your financial information a top priority. We take extensive security measures to insure a safe and reliable online experience for all of our customers.
Unique ID and Personal Identification Number (PIN)
The first level of security is password protection. To gain access to accounts, users must verify their identity with a password. Use passwords that include letters and numbers that are not easily discernible (do not use birthdays, child’s name, etc.). Do not reveal your User ID or PIN number to anyone.
Personally Selected Account Names
To avoid displaying any personal information on the Internet other than your name and address, we ask you to choose a “pseudo” name for each of your accounts. Examples of a pseudo name would be “vacation account”, “checking account”, or “savings account”. You can change your “pseudo” account name under the “Options” section of our online banking service. This is the second level of security, making your online visit as safe and secure as possible.
Three (3) strikes and you’re out
A third level of security is our three strikes and time-out features. If an unauthorized person attempts entry into your account by trying to guess a Log-In ID, the bank will disable the password on the third incorrect attempt, thus invalidating the Log-In combination. If you accidentally activate this security feature by unintentionally miskeying a password three times, you would need to contact the Bank to reestablish the password for that account. For example, a common mistake made by customers is having the CAPS-LOCK on while keying in a password.
To further protect you, a time-out feature is used. This feature will automatically log you out of your current financial service session after a 10 minute inactivity period on our site.
Our server is isolated from the network by use of a “Firewall”, providing a fourth level of security. All requests to the server are filtered through a router and Firewall before they are permitted access to the server. A router is a piece of hardware that works in conjunction with the Firewall, a piece of software, to block and direct traffic coming to the server. The router and Firewall define and limit access that “outside” computers have to the Bank’s server. The configuration begins by disallowing ALL traffic and then opens only when necessary to process acceptable data requests, such as sending customer request to the bank.
128 Bit Key SSL Encryption

They will walk you through the download process free of charge.
All data exchanged over the Internet is divided into small units and sent in envelope type packets. Upon arriving at the computer that requested the information, the packets are reassembled into the original message.
For Internet transactions and communications, you must employ a method of securing these packets as they travel across the Internet. Secure Socket Layer, or SSL, is a leading method for encrypting and decrypting packets of data as they are exchanged using a code known only to the data’s sender and recipient. SSL locks the data so that regardless of the path the data takes as it passes across the Internet, it can only be opened by the end user with the proper key or combination to the lock on the data.
SSL technology is widely accepted today because the combination needed to unlock SSL encrypted data is 128 characters long. Compare this to a suitcase that uses a lock with three combination wheels containing the numbers zero through nine. It would take several hours to try each combination from 000 to 999 to break the code. Imagine the time it would take to pick the lock of a suitcase that had 128 wheels and, in addition to the numbers one through nine, it also had letters A through Z.

While Stroud National Bank works to protect your banking privacy, you will also play an important role in protecting your accounts. There are a number of steps you can take to insure your SNB account information is protected, including:
- Keep your Personal Identification Number (PIN) to yourself.
- Change your PIN frequently.
- Remain at your computer until your Online Banking transactions are complete and log out.
- Log out of Online Banking prior to visiting other Internet sites.
